Hillcrest Medical Center unveils new name for Heart Hospital: Oklahoma Heart Institute

Hospital will be the state’s largest dedicated cardiac hospital,opening March 2009

Hillcrest Medical Center announced today the new name for its heart hospital - Oklahoma Heart Institute (OHI). Scheduled to open in March, 2009, the facility will be Oklahoma’s largest, most comprehensive, and most advanced hospital that is dedicated exclusively to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart problems.
Located on the Hillcrest Medical Center campus at 11th and Utica, Oklahoma Heart Institute is a 183,000 square foot hospital with 6 floors and a capacity of 104 licensed beds. OKI’s cardiovascular services will include a comprehensive Cardiovascular Diagnostic Center, Cardiovascular Interventional and Electrophysiology Laboratories, Pre- and Post-Cardiac Cath Lab Procedure Beds, a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Telemetry Beds, a Heart Failure CARE Center, and an Education Center.

Opening this extraordinary heart hospital is just another example of the many medical advancements that Hillcrest Medical Center is bringing to Tulsa and Oklahoma.”
With a large staff of medical professionals in every area of cardiology, OHI combines nationally recognized cardiovascular physicians, including cardiology sub specialists and cardiovascular surgeons, with patient-centered amenities, the area’s most advanced technology, groundbreaking research, and first-time procedures.
All of the patient rooms are private, completed in tranquil, pleasing colors, with home like furnishings and artwork to present a warm, comfortable and healing environment for each patient. Several of the many patient comfort amenities included in each room are wireless internet, flat panel HDTVs, and sinks by each doorway in the patient’s room for immediate hand washing.
Additionally, OHI will incorporate the innovative Art of Healing program, which integrates music and art into the healing process.
