Tulsa’s own Lester “L2” Shaw was in attendance at a private party on Jan. 6, 2017 hosted by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House with the iconic band Chic ft. Nile Rodgers. L2 expressed that “It was an honor for me to have this opportunity to share this special evening with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. The President and the first lady were very gracious and enjoyed the evening with many of their special friends.”  In the 70s, Chic was a pioneering all-black group on the New York disco scene. Leaders Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards were two of pop music’s greatest producers.
