Former Booker T. Drum Major Gilbert ‘Dinky’ Henderson To Perform At Greenwood Cultural Center June 15

As a part of Tulsa’s Juneteenth weekend festivities, native Tulsa Gilbert “Dinky” Henderson will bring his talents back home to the Greenwood District for a concert performance June 15th immediately following activities on the Juneteenth Tulsa Greenwood Main Performance stage.

Henderson started singing with his older brothers at age eight and received his first saxophone at age 10. He attended Booker T. Washington High School, Tulsa and became drum major of the “T-Connection” marching band. After graduation, Henderson was awarded a music scholarship to attend Texas Southern University where he became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, and later became drum major of the Texas Southern University “Ocean of Soul” marching band.

Although he majored in engineering and mathematics and is currently an Aerospace Engineer, Henderson continues his love for playing music, and has been involved in marching bands, R&B, funk, jazz, and gospel bands.

Henderson currently resides in southern California. He has constructed his own band, HD – “The High Definition Band”. His album, GD Henderson – “Face The Music”, is available on iTunes, Amazon, CDBABY, and Google Play and on www.gdhenderson.org.
