Native Tulsan Corneta Kelley ‘Coming Home With A Purpose’

The Oklahoma Eagle Newswire

“Coming Home with A Purpose” is a collaboration of community contributors to enlist the support of Booker T. Washington High School Alumni into community service opportunities during homecoming weekend. Tulsa youth are targeted as 6 to 18 year-old mentees to professionals during workshops in various areas that include coding and S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), fitness and health, financial literacy, kidpreneurship/entrepreneurship, money management, emotional intelligence, wealth building, estate planning and more.

KIDZ BIZZ Konference 2018 will serve as a segue into the 16-week Social Preneur Lab. Twenty-one youth will be selected and encouraged to start their business journey. Participants will launch a start-up, receive mentorship and earn money.

BTW Alumnus and event organizer Corneta Kelley stated, “We want to stress that Social Preneur Lab aims to attract youth who have a divine interest, desire and passion to be business owners.”

This year’s flagship event is perfectly timed with Booker T. Washington’s Homecoming celebration as well as BTW alumni class reunion festivities, which makes for a perfect storm of positivity.

This year’s participants and supporters include SocialPreneur Lab, Black Wall Street 2.0, Black Wall Street Liquid Lounge, BTW Alumni, KIDZ BIZZ Konference, The Oklahoma Eagle, CY Systems, Bite Way Nutrition LLC, Get Fit With Kitty, Wise Moves Dance Academy, Onifades Cookie Company, Frios, Nicole Smith-Independent State Farm Agent, Subway, Johnie Towns of Lena Mae’s Catering, Citifora, Black Wall Street Gallery, and Arvest Private Banking.
