"WE MAKE AMERICA BETTER WHEN WE AID OUR PEOPLE"

Names, Places, And Interesting Faces…

REVEREND MICHELLE K. MOULDIN celebrated her Fifth year at Vernon AME Church, flanked at left by young Kourtney Johnson and right, by Mrs. Rita Combs. The grand occasion was held at the Oklahoma Jazz Depot, Saturday, at Six o’clock in the evening, featuring Mr. Avery Buykes & Sax Appeal. The Fifty Dollar Buffet Dinner was well received by her well-wishers and church members, who braved the cold weather to welcome and congratulate her on her success.

MAYOR & REV. MICHELLE SHARE A DANCE at the Jazz Depot. The event was a success as Vernon African Methodist Episcopal Church broke bread in honor of her Fifth Anniversary as Church Pastor and enjoyed Chicken an all the trimmings and listened to accolades from Clergy and friends. They included Rev. Beverly Baul, Bro. James Johnson, Sister Ethel Waugh, Bro. Fred Freeman, and Bro. Jahari Johnson, representing the youth. Representing Family was Sister Pat Thomas and special guests, outgoing Senator Judy McIntyre, Rep. Jabar Shumate and the Mayor Dewey Bartlett, and his wife, first lady, Victoria.

SISTERS CATHY LATIMER and Tanya Thomas were dressed warmly for the recent Martin Luther King annual parade held recently in Tulsa. An effort will be made to see that the parade continues to be held on Pine and Greenwood streets, where the fabled Booker T. Washington High school band played for over fifty years. The old well-wishers see no need to change the route as was done this year. The city needs to give us a break. By the way, the girls are the daughters of the late Shirley Pearson.

TAYLOR WEST, 7, HANDLED his business, as he served as an escort for Reverend Michelle K. Mauldin. He was Two-years-old when he first met the new pastor and the couple became fast friends through the next five years.

CENTER OF ATTENTION for the Vernon AME 5th Anniversary, for Rev. Michelle K. Mauldin was the charming Clergy Rev. Beverly Baul and retiring Senator Judy Eason McIntyre who spend some time kibitzing with Mayor Dewey Barlett, who shared a dance or two, with the church adversaries, at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame Saturday.
